    VistA and the GT.M Environment -- Theory (K.S. Bhaskar)

    Although the installation of VistA on GT.M is straightforward following a script, one size does not necessarily fit all. The GT.M environment is different from other M implementations. Bhaskar will lead a technical session and clinic on the GT.M environment and VistA so that participants will be able to customize their own VistA installations.

    This will be a presentation and hands-on tutorial on how VistA is customized, by turning on patient registration and the lab functions in OpenVista.

    Location: Norcross City Hall

    This will be a presentation on VistA and the Open Source Free Software (OSFS) stack for Healthcare Information Systems (HIS) to the public and the press. There will be a demonstration of VistA as well as a screencams of VistA integrated with medical imaging.

    Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask questions of a panel of people who are knowledgeable about VistA and OSFS.

    VistA Information -- where to find what you need

    Although there is a lot of information on VistA, it is not always easy to find what you need. Dee Knapp will present a guided tour of VistA information available online; following which there will be a clinic where participants can bring their questions and Dee will help navigate the information superhighway to find it.

    The major parallel tracks planned for this meeting are:

    1. Getting started track for those getting started with VistA, thinking about getting started with VistA or just curious about VistA.

    2. Fit changes needed to run on GT.M to latest FOIA release.

    3. Turn on lab and patient registration in OpenVista.

    4. Start demystifying VistA configuration.

    5. Automate procedure to create "Stone" from "Steel" releases.

    However, the final tracks will be determined at the initial plenary session.

    Technical coordinators will be Dave Whitten and Chris Richardson.

    Vendors

    There will be a table for vendor information.
    There will be many opportunities for private presentations.
    The participants may elect to have formal vendor presentations.
